Friday is calling us outside
The 9 October forecast for Tashkent is +25…+27°C by day, some cloud and no rain. Overnight: +12…+14°C. Easterly winds: 3–8 m/s
Lunch outdoors sounds quite reasonable, though a light jacket will help in the evening
Autumn has started very warmly
Uzhydromet has summed up September: in Tashkent, it was the fourth-warmest in the entire weather record
Even if it did not always feel like it…

A quick look at city news
Some days bring more than others
▫️ A green wave on Fergana Highway
The Traffic Management Centre has synchronised 13 traffic lights along six kilometres, from the Qo‘yliq Ota mausoleum to UzBUM
Its measurements suggest the stretch now takes around 9 minutes off-peak instead of 12–13. You will still meet red lights, but hopefully fewer
▫️ $10,000 lost on the metro returned
A visitor from Kazakhstan lost a bundle of cash while travelling to buy a car. He noticed only after reaching the Sergeli car market
The report said an internal-affairs officer found the money. Staff used CCTV to identify its owner and invited him to collect it. Good to see a story end this way

Afrosiyob is already 15
On 8 October 2011, the high-speed train began carrying passengers between Tashkent and Samarkand. Back then, it ran just twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays
In its first timetable, the trip from Tashkent took two and a half hours, departing at 06:55. Trying the new train meant an early start…
Here is to many more years, and affordable tickets
