Good morning, Tashkent!
A green wave on the Small Ring Road, and another neighbourhood experiment in Yashnabad. Wednesday’s news and plans for the next few days

A warm day without rain
Today is Thursday, 15 October
Uzhydromet forecasts partly cloudy skies and no rain in Tashkent. Daytime temperatures will reach +23…+25°C, with easterly winds of 3–8 m/s
Now for the city news

21 traffic lights adjusted on the Small Ring Road
Traffic lights along the ten-kilometre stretch from Beruni Street to Katta Darkhon Street have been coordinated to create a “green wave”
When lights are out of sync, drivers stop more often at successive junctions. The new settings should reduce those stops. In two measurements by the traffic management centre, the journey took 20 minutes rather than 26

What’s happening with the neighbourhoods this time?
On 14 October, the president was shown a proposal to renew the Vatandosh, Mohinur, Al-Bukhari and Tong neighbourhoods. The idea is to put shops, everyday services, schools, healthcare, recreation and sports facilities within convenient reach of residents
Plans include a three-kilometre walking avenue, public spaces, upgraded bus stops and safe walking and cycling routes
The approach is intended to go further: plans call for renewing 100 neighbourhoods across the capital in 2027 and 400 by 2030

The pond projects are moving ahead
Tashkent has begun creating artificial ponds. On 4 July, officials announced plans for 12 artificial lakes to provide cooler surroundings and places to walk and relax
On 14 October, the city administration reported on one such project in the Qumariq neighbourhood of Sergeli district
Five hectares have been set aside for the recreation area. The pond is planned to cover 17,000 square metres, with playgrounds, gazebos and barbecue areas around it. Water filtration and ozone treatment are also planned
The administration says more than 30% of the main work is complete: the structure is being reinforced and a retaining wall built. Completion is expected by the end of the year
