Hello, Tashkent! Here is the past day’s news, a few useful tips and a couple of ideas for an autumn evening
A classic Tazik awaits those who make it to the end :)

Weather first
Today’s forecast for the capital is +21…+23°C, a little cloud and no rain. Easterly winds: 3–8 m/s
Layers make sense: a T-shirt by day, a light jacket in the morning and evening
Definitely that time of year when it feels colder indoors than outside…

Yesterday’s main news
A few stories worth reading. Not a huge haul, but here they are
▫️ Why did transport fares go up?
Tashkent’s mayor attributed the increase to energy costs, new buses and metro development. Even after the rise, fares cover only part of the cost of carrying passengers
Since 1 October, a cashless journey costs 2,500 sums instead of 1,700. The city administration and Transport Ministry promise to cut bus operators’ costs to avoid another increase
▫️ More electricity at the basic rate for homes without gas
On 6 October, a proposal was approved to raise the basic winter electricity allowance from 200 to 350 kWh in areas without gas infrastructure or gas supply
For families using electric heating, it could make a noticeable difference to winter bills

▫ Extra trains to Khiva
Temiryolexpress announced additional Jaloliddin Manguberdi services between Tashkent and Khiva
From Tashkent on Thursdays and Saturdays: 11:20–19:51. Returns on Fridays and Sundays: 11:00–19:36. The announcement did not give a start date
▫️ More than 1.2 million metro journeys in one day
On 6 October, the metro reported 1,218,313 passengers the previous day. Reserve trains are brought out when crowds build up, and empty trains may be sent to overloaded stations
Rush-hour intervals vary: 1.5–2 minutes on Chilonzor, 3 on Uzbekistan, 4 on Yunusabad and 7–8 on the elevated circle line

A couple of things to keep in mind
▫️ Pay as you board the bus
Inspectors temporarily block validators during checks. The transport department reminded passengers that payment cannot be left until getting off
Passengers say it can be hard to reach a validator on a crowded bus. The department promised to consider suggestions about accessibility and working equipment, but has not announced an end to blocking
▫️ CCA is closed on 7–9 October
Plan your visit to the Centre for Contemporary Arts for 10 October or later. Family workshops and films are announced for the weekend: The Daughters-in-Law’s Revolt on 10 October at 15:00, and Granny General on 11 October at 18:00
